TRIPLE CABLED PURSE

Materials: 3hanks of 100 grams. Noro Iro (a chunky weight yarn)
You can knit the purse with thinner or thicker yarn, just
keep in mind that the size of the bag changes accordingly.
Recommended needle
size: US 7 (the needle is much smaller than the recommended size on yarn
label to make an extra strong fabric).
A cable needle or an extra needle is needed when making
the cables
4 buttons for handles
Enough cording (rope) for inner handled (I inserted inside
the I cord)
Gauge: 14 sts = 10 cm in stockinette stitch
Abbreviations
k = knit stitch
p = purl stitch
RS = right side
st = stitch
sts = stitches
cn= cable neddle
WS = wrong side

slide the next 3 sts to the cable needle, move the needle to
the back of the work, k3, slide the sts back from the cable needle, k3

off. It should measure about 13”

Repeat rows 5.-8 until you have 13” +
it should match up one side of purse.
Change to seed stitch (k1, p1 across) for 13” or until it
matches bottom of purse
Next side repeat rows 5-8 same as first side again for
13” BO
Handles: make 2 similar handles.
Using double points size 7 cast on 8 sts Knit I-Cord for abt
14” or desired length.
Finishing
1) Press the front and back pieces.
2) GUSSET: Sew
the gusset to the front and back of purse making sure the seed st portion of
gusset is on the bottom of purse.
3) HANDLES: you will notice by knitting the I-Cord you
have made a tube -- insert a nylon
cording to give the handles some strength,
fasten by sewing the cording in
place .
I folded the top part of purse (the rib) down and stitched
in place.
Place the handles in the stst part & sew then sew your
button of choice.
